Skirt

The first thing a lady needs for her lady pirate costume is a skirt. The preferred color for a pirate skirt is black; however, grey and brown can also do the trick. The length of the skirt is not very important: it could be long or short depending on the appeal you want to make. If you are looking for a sexy appeal, a short skirt could do. To make the pirate look, cut the bottom of the skirt to make it look tattered and old.

Shirt

The next thing is the shirt. The shirt for a lady pirate costume should be a long sleeve with button-up. The color of the shirt should be white. You must avoid shirts that look too dressy or too business like. A long sleeve with ruffles is the best choice. Pirates are not very tidy people; so avoid making the shirt too clean. You can stain it a little and just like the skirt apply some cuts to make it look tattered. Leave a few of the top buttons undone.

The vest for a lady pirate costume should be either black or red. It is great to have a different color from that of the skirt so if you are wearing a black skirt, a red vest will be better. There should not be designs on the vest, a plain or stripped one will make a perfect costume.

Boots

The boots for a lady pirate should be tall and black. If you can’t find a black book, a brown one can work. You must avoid working type boots. The best types are army style boots and leather boots that are foldable at the top. The very extravagant boots with high heals are recommended for women. This creates a perfect wench look.

Hat and Bandana

The head of a pirate lady should be covered with a pirate hat and a bandana. If you don’t want to wear a hat, the bandana will be ok. The bandana should also be black or red. Those with short hair should ad a few braids to create the authentic pirate wench look.

Accessories

There are a few accessories that will complete the lady pirate costume. For those with pierced ears, there’s the need for big hood rings. If you desire other jewelry, you are free; but you must avoid looking dressy. As a pirate you also need a sword to make your costume complete.  A toy sword will do the trick here.
